Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world’s largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, announced today that EMB, the global actuarial and business consultancy, has joined the Teradata partner program. The alliance provides EMB with the opportunity to explore integration between the full range of EMB software products and the Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse. As a result, mutual customers in the insurance industry can accelerate their data management processes – specifically as data volume grows with the business.
EMB is one of the world’s leading providers of actuarial and analytical software embracing predictive modelling, decision support and process optimisation for non-life insurance companies..
“The partnership with Teradata will strengthen the processing capability around EMB’s core expertise of data structuring, management and analytics,” said EMB Partner, Peter Lee. “The value of customer data, the volumes involved in today’s markets and the ability to use them effectively in managing a business applies not only to our traditional insurance clients but in a whole range of consumer-facing businesses, including retail and utilities, where Teradata already has a strong presence.”
“Over the last few years we have seen a growing number of insurers looking to Teradata to provide solutions to maximise the value from their data assets,” said Simon Doherty, Teradata Financial Services Practice Director for EMEA. “This has been driven partially by regulatory pressures, such as Solvency II, but also by recognition that a centralised integrated data approach can reduce costs and increase efficiency. Where a single data store can meet regulatory needs, and provide additional value through enhanced pricing, for example, it provides real competitive advantage with maximum return on investment.”
“The partnership will encourage clients who already have our software to use it in a different way,” said EMB Consultant, Tony Lovick. “For example, large insurers who have centrally consolidated data will find they can use our EMB Emblem XE price modelling software to process very large volumes of data quickly and effectively in order to better understand customer needs and manage their business. In today’s dynamic aggregator markets, speed to market and close monitoring of performance have become critical aspects of model deployment.”
