If you have the following attributes, we want to hear from you!
- A minimum of 340 UCAS points (over 3 subjects)
- A-Level Mathematics (or equivalent) at Grade A
- a good degree (2:1 or higher) or post-graduate degree
- good written and oral communications skills
- strong analytic and problem solving abilities
- an aptitude to work effectively both within a team and independently
- the talent to work with initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility
- the capacity to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workload
- strong computing skills
- a sense of humour!
At EMB we certainly don’t prescribe specific backgrounds to recruit from. We take on new people straight from university, those who have pursued post-graduate study and those who are changing career. In the last few years our graduate intakes have included PhD students, a qualified teacher, actuarial students from the pensions industry and an architectural graduate! Degrees we have recruited from have so far included Maths, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, History and German.

When you join EMB as a new graduate you have three options for possible further professional qualification:- To study the actuarial exams

- To not do any further exams, concentrating on our on-the-job training

- Sports & Social: EMB is a friendly working environment with plenty of social events to get involved in. There are two official company-wide parties held in December and July, as well as the less formal department and team social events. The large number of student actuaries ensures that there are always lots of unofficial gatherings and outings that range from going to the pub on Friday nights and midweek curries to gigs, theatre trips or poker nights. On the sporting side of things there is plenty to do as well, from 5-a-side football to squash, golf, badminton or even a triathlon or two!
