Anju Bell, MA, FIA - Director
Anju Bell is an Actuary and Director at EMB Consultancy LLP, and leads a team of Consultants at the Epsom office.
Whilst at EMB, Anju has worked for a wide range of insurers from the Company Market to the London Market and Lloyd’s, covering the whole spectrum of reserving, pricing, capital and the control cycle. Her career has been exclusively in non-life insurance with particular specialisation in Personal and Small Commercial lines.
Anju has participated in and led a number of substantial pricing assignments covering most personal and small commercial lines of business both in the UK and in overseas territories, including the production of technical rates, the generation of street rates, the development of quotation engines, and the implementation of component pricing techniques for commercial insurance. She has also been involved in a number of peer reviews, and played a key role in a team assessing the pricing function of a target insurer for an M&A assignment.
Anju has been involved in the development, support and marketing of both EMBLEM and Classifier since their launches.
Anju played a key role in the highly acclaimed industry-wide UK Bodily Injury studies, has contributed to the Institute of Actuaries General Insurance Premium Rating Issues Working Party (GRIP) report, has spoken on pricing-related topics at the EMB Company Market seminars, and has run a postcode allocation workshop at the industry annual convention GIRO.
More recently, Anju has been involved in a number of major financial modelling assignments for EMB clients.
Anju read Medical Sciences at New Hall, Cambridge, and graduated in 1995 having obtained Firsts in all three years. She received College awards for excellence in the University examinations in each of her three years as an undergraduate. Anju joined EMB in 1996, and became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2003.
